A couple of weeks ago we drove to Chicago with the kids so Brooke could attend the annual RSNA radiology meeting.? While Mommy got up early to take a shuttle bus to the morning sessions, Daddy and the kids slept in and then went out to breakfast.? At around 10am, Brooke re-joined us and we rambled around the city.? On Wednesday it was 25 degrees, on Thursday it was 20, and by Friday it was 15, which finally forced us inside.
Here we are in front of the Christmas tree in the Oak Room, the famous restaurant in Macy’s, which used to be Marshall Fields.? We walked there on a snowy night to see the wonderful holiday window displays, and kept the kids bundled and blanketed.

Millennium Park, where Saenger begged to go ice skating…and was refused, in the interest of avoiding toe-frostbite.

The kids loved the mirror ball.

On Friday, when it was too cold to walk outside, we went to the Children’s Museum at Navy Pier, which was pretty great.? Saenger loved climbing the ship rigging, and we had to drag Ryland out of the water room.

Saenger drives the Tortoise.

Finally, we got a chance to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.? Saenger asked Santa for a few presents for herself, as well as some for Ryland, “because he’s too scared to talk to you.”? Santa seemed impressed.
